Fun with Moss pt. 2

First of all, I'm feeling pretty "meh" about this project. I feel like I need to qualify myself before you take a look at these pictures.

Have you seen the gorg moss letters from PB that run about $80 a pop? Well, I decided to try to make my own, on a whim, as I was standing in an aisle at the Dollar Store.

I bought two moss sheets for a dollar each, and two styrofoam blocks that are used in floral arrangements (I ended up only using one). Let me just say that this will only work if your initial has no curves in it; for example, my last name starts with an "H". All right angles. An "S", or a "J", or a "G" wouldn't really work using this method.

(PS- I did this project directly on the carpet because I knew that I had to vacuum anyway. Bad idea. Verrrry. Bad. Idea.)

I cut one of the blocks into four equal pieces.

I took the moss sheet, glued it to one side of the foam, and then wrapped it like a piece of sushi, gluing as I went...

...until it looked like this.

I didn't bother wrapping the moss around the back side, because I figure that you would never see it anyway.

And, tada! An "H" with an extreeeeemely long cross-section. Yay!

The moss also came out a lot more brown than green. But whatev. It cost me $2.

Have you made any projects with the help of the Dollar Store lately?

I love your comments like I love a glass of red wine, a slow Van Morrison song, and freshly swiffered floors...which is, like, a lot.
