We have an unbelievably small pantry in the kitchen. A tall, narrow door, five shelves, and barely any elbow room. I long for the days when I can do cartwheels in my future walk-in pantry, but for now, I decided to give ours a much needed revamp.
This is a before picture of the pantry. It looks like we have a lot of stuff in there, but you would not believe how many multiples I had! Three bags of flour, multiple half-full bags or rice...it was a hot mess.
So, after about an hour of cleaning, organizing, and combining flour, sugar, rice, cereal, and the like into canisters, this is the after!
It's really difficult to get a head-on shot of the pantry because the kitchen bar is in the way...
Cereals to the left, junk food in the large jar.
{jar on the far left was a wedding gift, the two with the white lids from the dollar store, and the large jar was $12 at Walmart and was used in the candy bar at our wedding}
Coffee, sugar, and rice on the left, pasta, flour, and pepper grinders (my favorite, I have like four) on the right.
{Canisters on the left and right were wedding gifts, stainless pepper grinders were $2.50 at a yard sale}
I have a confession: Husband and I love some hot tea. You would not BELIEVE how many boxes of tea we had in the pantry! Chai, English Breakfast, peach, Earl Grey, Lemon Zinger, and raspberry. Srsly.
So, needless to say, our tea bags took up an entire basket. The middle basket holds all of my baking needs; cupcake liners, sprinkles, frostings, etc. The basket on the right holds napkins, coffee filters, and other odds and ends.
{baskets purchased for $3 a piece at a local flea market}
Husband and I like to cook, and we cook pretty often. We like to experiment with different cooking techniques and flavors (Husband makes some BANGIN' Indian Chicken Tikka Masala), so we've accumulated so. many. spices. This large basket holds them all and makes them easy to find!
{basket- Ross clearance for $4}
This last shelf holds yet ANOTHER spice rack, MORE tea bags that didn't fit into the basket, doggie treats, EVOO, and the mason jars hold plastic spoons and straws.
So, there ya have it! On the floor is an even larger basket that holds cans, paper plates, solo cups, etc. It looks like I have no food, but now there's just a place for everything!
I made the chalkboard tags from wooden name plates that I bought at Hobby Lobby for .60 cents a piece. I spray painted them with chalkboard paint, and stapled a silk ribbon. I originally made them months ago to tie around napkins as a nametag for place settings, but I had them sitting around for so long that i just tied them to the baskets. I think they look adorable!
What have you organized lately?
