Thrifty Finds: Fashion and Beauty Edition

Hello! Thank you for all of the feedback on both my living room and dining room progress! It's finally getting there. I have been working on our entry way too, and I'm excited to share that progress with you this week as well!

Today I thought I'd share something a little different today. I've shared thrifty finds with you before, and I've shared some fashion/ beauty love...so I thought I'd combine the two! If you don't know already (and you will by the end of this post), I am a total makeup and jewelry junkie. And shoe junkie. But we'll save that for another day. The more hectic that my life gets, the more I feel the need to buy pretty things. I am such a nerd 23 hours a day, and with all of the reading, paper writing, studying, and just downright nerdiness (I even DVR Jeopardy. Husband and I have been known to get out homemade score sheets and play along with the TV. I've even taken the test to be on the show...you can laugh now), that I need that last hour of the day to be completely silly and girly. I spend what little free time I do have perusing the makeup aisle at Target. It's my release, people.

Anyway, I've come across some great deals and some great finds that I thought I'd share with you.
(are you still laughing about Jeopardy? When I start answering questions in the form of a question in everyday life, that's when you can laugh...and/or slap me).

First up is this pair of brushed gold drop earrings that I snagged at Target for $5! Love them, and they go with everything.

I also snagged this gorgeous little rosy pink pendant necklace from CuppaCoffee on Etsy. Seriously, check out her shop. Such cute things for a great price!

If you follow me on Pinterest (and if you don't, join the party!), you know that I have pinned this J Crew necklace a hundred and half times (fact). I'm obsessed with it...and of course I was dying over the turquoise one! But alas, I'm too cheap to shell out $150 for one necklace. But I'm about to rock your world people...are you ready? I shop like a madwoman on eBay, and I found a person that sells them for $14.50! I'm sure it's a knockoff, but it does have the JCrew tag on it and it's a fantastic fake. The quality is amazing, and I've been wearing it everyday! I don't care if it's not the real thing...it's still a gorgeous $14 necklace! (click here to buy).

I also snagged this canvas cross body bag from Target for $13. I love the color, and it's a great neon accent piece for Summer!

I have been on the hunt for some bright lipstick shades (I'm addicted). I love a neutral face and a bright pop of color on the lips! That's why I got so excited when I found these two...and it was love at first sight. The red is Covergirl Lip Perfection in Flame. It's the perfect balance between a classic red and a bright orange. The pink (my favorite) is Maybelline Fuschia Fever, and it's the perfect pop of pink for Spring.

Some other beauty item's I've picked up recently and fallen in love with: (left to right)
Maybelline Age Rewind Skin Primer- I just started using a primer on my face as a good base for my foundation, and I've fallen in love with this product. It's only about $7, and a little bit goes a long way! It's the perfect way to give your skin a nice, smooth base to work off of. Definitely on my "can't live without list"!
Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion- I've had this one for a while, so that's why it looks scuffed up from my makeup bag (sorry). This stuff is amazing. They recently changed the packaging, so don't be confused if you click the link! Eye primer is so important to keep your shadow from creasing or smudging. It's kind of pricey ($20), but I firmly believe in investing in good skin products. Plus, I snagged this at my local Nordstrom Rack for only $8! Score.
Benefit High Beam- I paid full-price for this stuff, and let me tell you...it's worth every penny. It's a nice, lightweight skin illuminizer (they call it "Super Model in a Bottle") that you can smooth on your skin either before or after you apply foundation/ tinted moisturizer. I mix it together with my foundation, and it gives me a nice, glowing, dewy complexion! And the bottle will last you forever.

I picked up this NYC "Matte me Crazy" topcoat at Target the other day for about $1. I love it! It gives your nails a nice matte look, which is a nice change from super shiny.

(is it EVEN possible to get a flattering picture of your hands?!)

Okay people....none of the products I mentioned above are worth it unless you have a good cleansing routine. I have always been a stickler about my face, and I use every product out there (makeup remover, face wash, toner, anti-wrinkle cream, moisturizer, etc.). They all pale in comparison to this little baby: the Olay Pro X cleansing system (it was my compromise with Husband over the Clarisonic...he was a little astounded at the $200 price tag). The first time I used it, I washed my face like normal and then tried it. I was amazed at how much makeup was left on my face! And I'd been cleaning my face like that for years! Ew. Anyway, I've only been using this for three days, and I can definitely feel a visible difference with my skin.

I also bought Style by Kate Spade. I'm obsessed with everything she makes, and this book is perfect for your coffee table! (Check out eBay for this book...I snagged it for about $3)

Have you bought anything pretty lately? I'd love to hear about it...I'm all for trying new things!

Have a great day!

I love your comments like I love a glass of red wine, a slow Van Morrison song, and freshly swiffered floors...which is, like, a lot.
