I Love Lamp(s).

If you follow me on Twitter (and if you don't, you should! Lots of exciting things happening there. And by that, I mean I post a lot of instagrammed pictures of my cat), you saw me post a picture of these beauties, along with a very confused and windblown Husband. We scored them at an auction for $1 a piece (we were the only bidders- can you believe it?! Okay, maybe you can).

I couldn't wait to get them home and put them on our dining room buffet. I knew these suckers were big, but I didn't realize how big until I put them in the dining room. They are probably about three and a half feet tall! So, there they sit, just waiting for their owner (me?) to decide what to do with them.

One thing that I know is that I will definitely be painting the base a different color. I'm thinking about leaving the gold accents, as I will be replacing the plate wall with a large, gold mirror some time in the near future...but don't you worry your pretty little head, those plates will make an appearance somewhere else in the dining room. Promise.

I will never be able to find replacement shades for these lamps, so I'm probably going to have to reupholster them with some sort of fabric. What kind, you ask? I have no idea. I'm having a major dining room identity crisis.

(Also, don't mind the random stack of books with the ceramic bird in the middle. They're going away too. This came from a time when I took this advice too literally).

As I said before, I really am having a dining room identity crisis. A few weeks ago, I tweeted a picture of a dining room that I just fell head over heels for, and am seriously considering painting mine that color. Crazy? Nah. Either that, or the lamps just confirmed the answer to that question.

what do you think of my gigantic pair of lamps?

  1. I absolutely love that you mentioned Instagraming so many pictures of your cat, because I can't help but do the same thing hahaha.

And I love your lamps...maybe not the color, but the shape is amazing! I am currently debating putting lamps on the console behind my sofa. I don't know if I want to do it. Ahhhhh!!

  2. Those lamps are wonderful and you can't beat the price! I recently got a somewhat similar lamp at an estate sale and it wasn't until I got it home that I realized it was the most ginormous lamp ever. I just discovered your blog at liz marie and I am now your newest follower. I can't wait to explore more of your posts.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. I love the lamps! I have a very similar console in my living room and I was just thinking 'this piece could use two oversized lamps'. And you definitely couldn't beat that price!

I love your comments like I love a glass of red wine, a slow Van Morrison song, and freshly swiffered floors...which is, like, a lot.
