I had the pleasure of creating a design board for a follower, Alexa. She sent me a few pictures of her rental space- a large, long room the doubled both as a living room and a dining room. She already had some great colorful pieces, so I incorporated some of them into the design. Here's what her space currently looks like:
And here's what I came up with for her dining area:
And living area:
I love all of the colors that were inspired by some of Alexa's original pieces. In order to complete the design, I also came up with a new floorplan:
Just a tip for renters (or homeowners!) out there: Spoonflower has customizable and removable wallpaper! At just $60 a roll, it's a bargain that can easily be changed or removed. It's great to creat a big impact in a space that you might not be able to paint, or even for those who are indecisive (like me!)
Another tip for those living in a large space that needs to be divided: the Ikea Expedit shelving unit is a great way to create a multi-purpose divider in a long room. In Alexa's space, I moved her current Expedit off of the wall and into a parallel position so as to divide the two spaces. It works great for storage, and looks good too! Pile some books, make a makeshift bar, or even hang picture frames or mirrors on it to create an instantly cozy and functional piece in your space.
